The Dusty Talon is a small New England workshop designed around all three.
Here you’ll find handspun yarn, handmade objects and old things chosen because they still have something left to give. You’ll also find the stories behind them, notes from the workbench, and a growing field guide filled with useful things worth knowing.
Nothing here is interested in being perfectly matched, mass produced, or particularly well behaved.
Things are made slowly, with care. Old objects are allowed to look old. Wool is permitted to have opinions.
And curiosity is encouraged.
About the Maker
I’m Cleo, the hands behind The Dusty Talon.
I spin wool, knit, crochet, make jewelry, collect old things, learn new skills and have a longstanding habit of looking at something and thinking, I could make that.
Sometimes I even know how before I start.
The Dusty Talon grew out of that curiosity. I’m interested in materials and process-the difference between one wool and another, the way a stone changes a piece of jewelry, the construction of an old object and the small decisions that turn raw materials into something useful, beautiful or simply worth keeping.
I don’t believe handmade things have to be perfect to have value. I like evidence of the hand that made them. I like old objects that still carry their wear. And I like learning how thigs work instead of simply being told that they do.
I live and work in New England where there is no shortage of wool, old things, stubborn practicality or inspiration.
The Dusty Talon is where all of those things meet.
