There were 222 stitches on the needles, a disagreement with the written instructions and more than one occasion when Cinder tested the limits of my patience.

Cinder – From the Embers began with a beautiful skein of merino from Toil and Trouble in Salem, MA, a lace shawl pattern, and the entirely reasonable expectation that I could follow the instructions without arguing with them.
As it turns out, reasonable expectations and knitting don’t always get along.
